If you know a union worker whose dedication, grit, and community service have made a lasting impact, now is the time to nominate them—and help them win their share of $150,000 in life-changing cash prizes.

Your Hometown Hero could walk away with an extraordinary $40,000 grand prize, a luxury Collette Tour experience, and a 5-night getaway at the Hilton in beautiful Hawaii. Whether they’re rebuilding neighborhoods, mentoring the next generation, or tirelessly advocating for labor rights, this contest rewards the real difference-makers—the ones pushing America forward with strength and solidarity.

Limit: Only one entry is allowed per eligible person. The minimum age required to enter the giveaway is 18.

How to Participate in Hometown Heroes Contest 2025:

Visit unionplus.org/laborday during the Promotion Period. Complete the official entry form and submit either:

  • A video (without music or closed-captioning), or
  • An essay,

that highlights how the nominee (yourself or another union member) exemplifies dedication and impact at work, home, or in the community.

Each entry must be unique and feature a different nominee. Multiple entries are allowed, but identical or non-compliant submissions may be disqualified.

2025 Union Plus Hometown Heroes Contest Winner Judging:

All eligible entries submitted during the Promotion Period will be evaluated by qualified judges, under the supervision of the Promotion Administrator, based on the following criteria:

  • 50% Content: Emphasis on your video and written story detailing how you're helping to power America forward and why you deserve to win.
  • 30% Creativity: Judges will look for originality, heartwarming or fun elements, and expressions of union pride.
  • 20% Clarity: Entries should be visually and textually clear, easy to view or read.

The entry with the highest total score across all criteria will be named the Grand Prize winner. Subsequent highest scorers will be designated as First, Second, and Third Prize winners respectively.

Hometown Heroes Contest Prizes:

One Grand Prize Winner will win:

  • $40,000 awarded by check

A Collette trip voucher valued at $15,000

Two First Prize Winner will win:

$20,000 awarded by check

A 5-night luxury hotel stay for up to four adults at one of the following (ARV $3,000):

  • Hilton Hawaiian Village – Rainbow Kai Ocean View Room (1 winner)
  • Hilton Waikoloa Village – Makai Ocean View Room (1 winner)

(ARV; $23000 for each)

Total ARV for both First Prizes: $46,000

Two Second Prize winners will win $10,000 awarded by check.

Twenty-Five Third Prize winners will win $2,000 awarded by check.
