The SGLA is advocating for modernized laws to regulate the industry, and they claim this could bring in $80 million in additional revenue to New York’s state revenues every year. New York’s ban is not yet rubber-stamped, and there is still a chance for Governor Kathy Hochul to veto it. There are calls for her to embrace smart regulation to protect consumers and generate additional revenue.
